THOUGHT POWER.

Four important things you need to know about how your brain works.

Reptile Brain

Your reptile brain is on auto pilot to keep you safe. Mother nature and evolution programmed it. It's a fear based process that occurs subconsciously. It can also prevent you from getting out of your comfort zone and moving forward.

Reptile brain doesn’t care about your growth, it's only job is to keep you safe. To it, safety is more important than sanity.

Reticular Activating System (RAS)

Our RAS acts as a filter to help us cope with the information overload we receive from our senses. What we see, what we hear, what we touch, taste and smell.

It’s on auto pilot too, working subconsciously, but Mother Nature didn’t do its programming. You did.

So, as the RAS filters the information that’s getting into our brain, based on our own programming, we’re not seeing what is actually going on. We’re seeing what will support our pre-programming. We subconsciously block out information that is not important to us. It’s called a SCOTOMA and we don’t know we’re doing it.

WE THINK WE SEE THE TRUTH!

It’s the self-fulfilling prophecy, we see what will support our pre-determined result.

While we’re telling yourself one story, what would make us go crazy is seeing the opposite. Your subconscious believes your sanity is more important than your success, so it blocks out.

Set up your day for success. Expect to succeed.

Self-talk

We are constantly talking to ourselves through our conscious thoughts. Our conscience, our ego, our self-talk. Sometimes we argue with ourselves, but ultimately, it’s this self-talk that influences not only our conscious actions but our subconscious behaviour as well.

It’s the most powerful thought tool we have.

YOU MUST USE YOUR SELF-TALK TO CONTROL YOUR THOUGHTS OR YOUR THOUGHTS WILL CONTROL YOU!

Goals

Human beings are Teleological, we must have goals to survive. Another word for a goal is an intention or a vision.

They’re always visionary. We always create the goal first then go about taking the steps towards achieving them.

WE CREATE OUR VISION THROUGH OUR SELF-TALK AND OUR THOUGHTS!

These goals or visions come in all shapes and sizes.

Some are complex and detailed - I intend to build my dream home

Some are very basic - I'm going to the toilet

Some are long term - One day I'm going to retire to the Gold Coast

Some are short term - I'm going to mow the lawn now

Some of them are one-offs - I'm going to get my diploma

Some are continually repeated - I'm going to catch the bus to work

Some we write down on paper or put on a vision board but mostly, because they are so important to us, they’re locked in our brain. Partly in our conscious brain but mostly in our subconscious brain.

It doesn’t matter to your sub-conscious brain if it’s the right goal though, old goal, new goal, it just has to have a goal.

If we want change to occur, we must replace the old goal with a new one.

We must make the new goal more important than your old goal or your subconscious will default back to the old one.
