BELIEF.

Everything is possible unless we believe otherwise.

For most of us, our belief in our own ability has been developing over the years, just like our identity. It has become entrenched in who we are. It’s been created through our attempts at trying different things and how successful or unsuccessful we were. It’s been reinforced by our teachers, our coaches, our parents.

Another word for belief is potential.

Up until this point we have been establishing our potential by what we believe we can achieve. How good we are, what we might achieve in life. But at the same time, we have also been putting a limit on it. We have limited our potential at our belief level.

The problem with belief is this. Once you know (or think you know) what your limit is, that’s as far as you can go. You cannot perform better than your potential (at least not consistently anyway).

YOU MUST HAVE THE BELIEF TO MAKE SUSTAINABLE CHANGE.

Occasionally, we perform above our belief level, above our potential but as soon as that registers in our sub-conscious brain, we unknowingly sabotage ourselves. To make any sustainable change in our lives we must have the belief that it is possible. You must be able to see yourself doing it. Place yourself in your vision.

You’re probably not going to get there on the first attempt. We rarely do, but we try again. If we fail again, we keep trying. When you have the belief, you will keep trying until you succeed. You may need to re-affirm your belief to yourself to give you the energy and creativity you need to try again. Thomas Edison tried thousands of times to make a light bulb. Imagine how he must have talked to himself to reaffirm his belief.

First comes the belief, then comes the trying, and then comes the reward. This same belief can prevent you from achieving your goals or making your meaningful and sustainable change. If you believe it’s not possible, then that belief will become part of your identity, part of your sub-conscious, you’ll build scotomas to the solution.

IF YOU BELIEVE THERE IS NO SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEM.

COULD YOU BE BLOCKING THE SOLUTION?
